Silent Messengers
4m read
God’s Word is not silent on the topic of how He wants us to live and witness to the world. One problem, however, is that the counsel we have from the Word of God is often crosswise with the way the world operates. This year’s convention theme, Business Unusual, has a biblical foundation with very challenging principles.
Business Unusual requires being in unity with our brethren, demonstrating love for our fellow man, putting others first, living the gospel in our daily lives, and treating others as we would want to be treated. What wonderful biblical principles by which we may live, through the power of the Holy Spirit.
In our self-focused society, Christ is calling us to put others first. Romans 12:10 says, “Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another.” In fact, the entire chapter of Romans 12 deserves careful study: be not slothful in business; be fervent in spirit; serve the Lord; rejoice in hope; be patient in tribulation; continue in prayer; distribute to the necessity of saints; exercise hospitality; bless them which persecute you; be of the same mind one toward another; live peaceably with all men; avenge not yourselves; overcome evil with good. All these qualities demonstrate Business Unusual to the world.
